Timm Sharp Joins Safety

Well, it's pseudo-official now.

Timm Sharp, of HBO's Golden Globe-nominated Enlightened, has, as of this afternoon, been attached to Safety, for one of the lead roles. Now, for those of you who haven't the bleedingest what that means, lemme elaborate, as I just learned the difference myself today.

As we currently have zero budget for Safety, we can't make any official offers to actors, as they tend not to accept pretend or hypothetical money. That being said, he's read the script, is very excited and has agreed to play the role of Buzz, the hitman's shell-shocked and chronically unemployed son.

There's still much negotiation and contracts and legalese to be worked through but, this is an important step and I've elected to enjoy a Hawaiian pizza in celebration.

Casting News

Well, we have a Moira.

After a three-hour lunch at Jerry's Deli on Ventura (good food, steep prices), we've officially cast Joanna Canton as Moira Quicksilver in the Hull Damage book trailer, hopefully releasing sometime this April.

She's excited, we're excited, it's gonna be a good time. Plus, she's evidently tons of experience with actual firearms, which'll sufficiently embarrass me when I hand her our re-painted squirt guns.

Someday soon, there'll be another desert expedition. With more photos.

The Rule of B

1. Whenever one creates a shabby copy, a joke facilime or an obvious parody of an established noun for the purposes of comedy, the first letter should be replaced with the letter "B" for maximum effect (up to a 73% increase over other consonants.)

Examples:

• The trope namer originates from an unimaginative PC in a years-old D&D game who, at the suggestion of the death of his dragonborn Rhogar, proposed his identical twin brother Brhogar.
• The rule was first officially put into practice when my first Wookiee bruiser, Maroolchen, was thoughtfully splattered by a thermal detonator. When the game returned from hiatus, I found myself, in a deliberate lampshade, playing Baroolchen, his older brother. (Incidentally, Barool would end up becoming a much more pivotal and fleshed out character than his brother ever had been.)
• Whenever referencing a hypothetical, compromise-laden version of our upcoming feature film, in which several main characters are portrayed by trained golden retrievers and all the bullets are replaced with vampires, we lovingly apply the term Bafety.

My close friend, boon companion and bitterest rival Steven Molony recently attended Austin, Texas' Wizard World ComicCon and returned with an early birthday present - an autographed photo of Peter Mayhew. Be there a better present somewhere upon this unhappy earth, I dare you to find it.

In other J. Meyer-related news, I've, as of yesterday, officially queried three literary agents as regards Hull Damage. I'm certainly expecting no reply and less interest, but I figured it won't hurt to stir the waters of traditional publication before I head straightaways toward the eBook.

I wanted to give a shout-out to my handful of apparently Russian readers. As to how you found this blog or why you're continuing to read, I won't speculate, suffice to say, it's always a pleasure to see another reader from a country I've never visited.
