Did I tell you I have a composer?
Steven Molony (of Dr. Arkham, Nehel Morel and roommate fame) is sitting in as the resident music-guy for HULL DAMAGE: FIRST MATE (which premieres this upcoming Monday and you should check out if you haven't 'cause I think it's pretty cool and some people I know agree).
He's relatively new to the biz (that being the biz of composery) but I can assure you, he's managed to mix a pretty savvy collection of tunes and jams for the short film. Look out for a fuller version of the music (which is pretty sparse in the actual short) at some point in the near future at this one cool website you should check out again. (See what I did there?)

A Sonnet
I dedicate this post to the birthday of my good friend and comrade, Steven Molony.
In commemoration, allow me to re-post a pseudo-sonnet (the meter's a little imperfect in places) I wrote for him the previous year:
Would that thyself would fall no ill this day,
That four-and-twenty years from thence
Thou sprang onto foul Earth for to convey
A thespian craft, a mummer's humor-sense.
Would that, this blessed day, the planets grant,
Orbs once align'd, their portents naught but boons
Boards to tread, lines to speak, crowds to enchant.
E'ery player's hopeless fancy from dreams be hewn.
Would that thou spendst the day in good comp'ny.
With stout brethren nigh and wenches to hand.
Best companionship serve to distract thee
From a gruesome doom creeping on unplann'd.
Four-and-twenty years thou famously past.
Six-and-seventy 'fore death's icy grasp.
Hey! Everybody! Go to Steven's fan page and wish him happy birthday.

Phase One: Complete
As I need to awaken again with tomorrow's dawn, I've very little time remaining to blog properly and I promise all ye faithful that, Monday's blog post will be immense and voluminous.
We wrapped Joanna Canton on the Hull Damage book teaser* today. A TREMENDOUS, heartfelt thank you to her for her willingness to run around and play a bounty hunter pro bono. Few and far between are professional actors down to jive for free on the level she was jiving. Thanks again, Joanna.
I'd elaborate on how well the shooting went today and explain my emotions surrounding the proceedings but, I think I'd rather let the teaser, upon its release, be the judge.
That being said, here's a silly picture for you.
We return to No'tiukki tomorrow, to grab all of Steven's coverage.
For the record, space pirates are really cool. Anybody who don't think that, there's the door.
*Which is what I'm calling it from now on. As a contained scene, "trailer"'s more than a misnomer.

Molony as Morel
I awoke at 9:36 AM this morning. Like a man.
Then, with two other men, I drove out to the middle of fucking nowhere, Hunter S. Thompson-style, and ran about in the desert with toy guns, going "ZAP!" at each other.
In other words, we did a location scout/camera test.
His shoes aren't correct (edit: or apparently pictured) and the camera had some diffusion issues, but here, for your dining and dancing pleasure, is Steven Molony as Nehel "Nemo" Morel.
I've also made another plain-jane dart shooter into a totes Xtreme laser pistol, but pictures of that'll have to wait. I'm currently redesigning the interior of my spaceship.
For work. Seriously.

Blog Posts You!
So, yeah. There's that.
My close friend, boon companion and bitterest rival Steven Molony recently attended Austin, Texas' Wizard World ComicCon and returned with an early birthday present - an autographed photo of Peter Mayhew. Be there a better present somewhere upon this unhappy earth, I dare you to find it.
In other J. Meyer-related news, I've, as of yesterday, officially queried three literary agents as regards Hull Damage. I'm certainly expecting no reply and less interest, but I figured it won't hurt to stir the waters of traditional publication before I head straightaways toward the eBook.
I wanted to give a shout-out to my handful of apparently Russian readers. As to how you found this blog or why you're continuing to read, I won't speculate, suffice to say, it's always a pleasure to see another reader from a country I've never visited.
